Overview

Las Trancas Elkins offers an inviting gateway to authentic Mexican cuisine right in the heart of West Virginia. Nestled at 25 Randolph Ave, this restaurant strikes a thoughtful balance between traditional flavors and polished presentation, delivering both comfort and refinement.

The standout dishes here draw from classic Mexican staples, elevated with fresh, vibrant ingredients and expert preparation. The Burrito Tropical and Burrito El Trio showcase a colorful fusion of meats and spices, each bite revealing layers of well-seasoned meats like tender carnitas and grilled chicken paired with shrimp. Particularly noteworthy is their take on birria, with options like Birria Tacos and QuesaBirria presenting tender, marinated beef encased in soft tortillas or golden quesadillas, served alongside consommé and a creamy salsa verde. These dishes reflect a mastery of both texture and flavor, inviting diners to savor each element fully.

The dessert menu offers a sweet close to the meal with choices such as Sopapillas—light, fried flour tortillas drizzled with honey and cinnamon—and traditional favorites like Tres Leches Cake and Flan, which provide a comforting, authentic finale.

Las Trancas Elkins stands out not just for its food but for the entire dining experience. Guests repeatedly praise the spacious, clean environment marked by modern touches and a subtle upscale ambiance. The service complements this atmosphere perfectly: attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing guests to linger and enjoy without feeling rushed—a rarity in many busy eateries.

The bar is a notable highlight as well, stocked with an impressive array of specialty liquors and crafted cocktails. Unique finds like a Mango Chamoy Margarita and a selection of top-shelf whiskies elevate the experience beyond a typical casual meal, making it an excellent destination for those seeking a complete dining and drinking experience.

Las Trancas Elkins caters to a broad audience: families, couples, and groups looking for quality Mexican fare in a clean, welcoming setting. Whether it’s a casual lunch, a relaxed dinner, or an evening of drinks with friends, the atmosphere adapts fluidly. The emphasis on freshness, flavor balance, and presentation appeals not only to Mexican cuisine lovers but also to those who might be skeptical, as evidenced by visitors new to Hispanic flavors who find themselves pleasantly surprised.

In summary, Las Trancas Elkins is a refined yet approachable Mexican restaurant where authenticity meets hospitality. Its thoughtful menu, inviting space, and well-rounded bar program create a memorable experience that encourages repeat visits. For those in Elkins and beyond craving bold tastes, generous portions, and a touch of elegance, this spot deserves a prime place on the list.

We visited on 7/12/25. This is a Very Clean and Professional Restaurant and Bar. The food was very good. We had the wings which were cooked perfectly and a very nice portion. I got a Draft Beer and a Mango Chamoy Margarita. We also had the Tacos Al Pastor and the Birria Tacos which were excellent. The staff was very professional and the manager came over make sure we were satisfied and to inquire how we like their new menu additions. The Restrooms are immaculate. Check out my Picture of the rest room sinks. On the way out we saw the cabinet of specialty liquor's. The manager asked if we would like something from the cabinet and we said 2 shots of the Whistle pig Whisky. So we stopped at the bar while he opened a brand new bottle and we had two shots, which was excellent. The bar is well stocked with probably one of every Liquor and some real high end Top Shelf hard to find Specialty Liquors. We like this location it was our first time here, we have been to other Las Trancas locations and have enjoyed them as well. We will be back to dive deeper into the menu and especially the Bar.

We stopped at Las Trancas this past Friday night and had an INCREDIBLE experience! This has to be one of the cleanest Mexican restaurants I have ever been to with an upscale atmosphere. We were sat at a spacious booth that gave us privacy from other tables and were pleased when we weren’t rushed through our dining experience, like many other Mexican restaurants we have visited. We ordered 2 “monster” margaritas which were huge and under $10! We had the cheese dip as an appetizer and it was actually seasoned, therefore super delicious! My partner ordered a tamale and a chile relleno and I had the chicken fajita nachos. Both of our meals were amazing!!! We thought the prices were reasonable for the quality of the meal, and we are looking forward to trying other items off the menu and will be back!!!

My mom and I came here for a later lunch on a Tuesday, so the place was pretty empty because of the time. But we still had great service and the food was delicious. I’m actually not a huge fan of Mexican food, so it takes a lot to impress me with it, but darn if they didn’t do it! I had the chicken al chipotle, which I’ve never seen before on a Mexican menu. It wasn’t actually what I was expecting it to be, but it was so good! I would definitely order it again! I even had the leftovers for lunch the next day and amazingly it was even better. My mom had a beef chimichanga and enjoyed it as well. Also, the salsa they give you with the chops is not too spicy so she was actually able to enjoy it which usually never happens at other Mexican restaurants. Keep up the great work Las Trancas! Well look forward to eating there again next time we’re in town!

10/10, no notes. This experience was amazing from start to finish. Very clean establishment, amazing staff, luxury vibes with high quality food at extremely reasonable prices. Excellent portions, and a relaxed atmosphere lets you enjoy yourself without feeling rushed. Our waitress was phenomenal. Would travel here again just for the queso and fajitas for 2, which could have fed a small army.

Some like it hot, but not me. Everything had a kick to it, so plenty of refills on water for us. The food was delicious and was served fast. Clean with friendly staff.

We drive 1 hr, each way, every week to go here. Their food is extremely good, and the service is outstanding. I don't have pics on my phone or I'd post them. Very nice inside. It's not the typical decor found in Mexican restaurants.
